Drivers side rear taillight problems 1978 Euro 911sc

Hello,

I'm having issues with my drivers side rear turn signal and brake light on my 1978 Euro 911sc. When I put my left turn signal on, both dash indicators flash dimly. If I wiggle the bulbs they start working and will continue to work while in the garage. Once driving they will work for a while and then same problem returns.

I have pulled the housing out and cleaned up the ground behind the housing. Cleaned up the inside of sockets. Added a bit of dialectic grease. I have thought I had he problem solved a few times but it keeps returning!!

I have not pulled the housing apart. I did replace the brake light bulb.

Any suggestions on what to do next???

Check that you don't have a one contact bulb in a two contact socket.

are the bulbs loose in the sockets? The design of the socket is not great and contact with the copper strips gets loose. This happens to the 2 contact bulbs like brake/tail light. A solution I found here on the board (don't remember the member's name) is to add solder to the contacts. Then fit and file carefully until the bulb fits tightly with no play in the socket. Worked for me when my tail lights worked but brake lights were erratic.

Hope this helps.
