What's wrong with this 911 engine case?
At a quick glance, it looks normal:

An 8 cylinder 911?
908?
what wrong? its not finished and installed!!!
No crank on the first cylinder?
It is not leaking oil!
could it be a waterpumper 4 banger? Hell, I'm not afraid to ask a stupid question..
Don't I remember you buying some odd engine case ( 917 ) at a swap meet ?
Dilivar studs? I give up.
it's a mutant case siamesed to a boxer 8. 998 motor?
Ummm.....At first glance, I'd say the case was torqued together with a guy's finger in it.
Hmmm, H-beam rods presumably forged, 8 cylinders of course, I don't see any oil return tube holes, a large oil gallery running along the bottom of the case, dual v-belt pulley, strange color to the casting (a different alloy perhaps?), no return housing on top, part number begins with 908, a few other thing look odd but I can't put my finger on them. ;)

the "5"s on each case half don't match and were probably written by two different people. The one on the top was probably a red head, about 35 and has a limp. The other was a blond, left handed, 47, and drunk. Seagrams I think...with a splash of 7-up. No...Sprite.

Believe it or not, this is a brand-new replica 908 engine case that Jerry Woods' shop is assembling for a customer. I guess when you have money, nothing is spared. These are not Porsche cases, but replicas made by a outside company...

I can't imagine what a "brand-new replica 908" crankshaft would cost.

Hey! I've got an idea for an 8. Why not get Dean Polopolus to put two of his 4 cyl units together?
But I think I'll stick with my trusty '6' Cheers |
