Best Piggy Back ECU for 3.2 turbo conversion?

When I eventually go turbo on my 3.2, I am planning on using the BEGI FPR for fuel, but spark hasn't been the easiest to figure out.

I DO NOT want a standalone ECU because of the complexity. The MSD 6AL programmable seems to not have enough spark retard. I could get a custom tuned chip but as far as I know there is no one around (Syracuse, NY) that could do it on a dyno like it should.

Is there a good yet simple piggy back ECU that's out there that I can control fuel and spark with but keep the nice basics and drive ability? This is a low boost 7-10psi application.

Thanks!

Contact Sal Carceller. Do a MAF conversion and his matching chip. This should easily handle those boost levels.

Yes but then I'm still locked to that tune. Boost level isn't an issue at 7psi.

Why would you need a piggyback? There is a plug and play ECU available for 3.2 that allows you to use any injectors etc you like.. Plugs right into factory 35pin DME plug via adapter harness or also available as straight Motronic version. Comes with built-in wideband controller.

Because then I have to program every little detail like I did with Megasquirt on my Miata which was not fun. I just need to alter fuel and spark and leave the rest alone.

You can get an EEPROM burner and modify your own Motronic chip fuel trim and spark tables. I don't think there is a way to do what you are requesting over Motronic. You can reprogram the existing system or install a stand-alone.

AFIK there are no ROM burners or other real-timing tuning for Motronic systems in these cars.

VEMS comes with good running tune, including idle valve etc, you only need to adjust fuel and advance to your liking...

Plus one on Sals MAF conversion. Im assuming you're going low boost like .5 bar. Sal can easily program timing retard into the chip and with the new injectors, you wont even need the BEGI. You'll also be able to get rid of the old AFM and set up the MAF as a draw through system. A nice MAF will make that thing run like a new car. For a low boost setup its probably the best overall solution.

Yes, 7psi kind of thing. Max I would ever go is 10psi. I actually have an old Authority MAF I bought cheap and was going to mod a little for this same purpose.

Good point on the injectors. They are probably cheaper than the BEGI anyway!

Our CDI+ has a simple 2D map for advance, based on RPM, plus it's a dual spark system. Works well on 930s. we are looking at adding a MAP sensor but it is a way off at the moment.
