Engine Gasp

I hooked up my decel valve hoping it would cure the problem of the engine wanting to die when the throttle is released. When the throttle is released, my engine speed drops to 200 rpm, and occasionally but rarely, just dies.

the decel valve does a good job of making the engine speed hang up, preventing compression from helping slow the car down and making gear changes annoying because engine speed does not drop during shifts. I don't know why anyone would want this behavior in an engine, and I can report that it did not stop the problem I was hoping it would stop. That's the reason for this post. In case anyone what curious.

engine speed hangs and slowly returns...as it gets to about 1500 rpm, it suddenly tries to return to idle. At that point, the engine speed does not drop to 900, it drops to almost zero. And almost dies.

My mixture is set pretty rich. I wonder if anyone has solved this problem.

set the idle to 1000.
