transmision rebuild in southeast
hey guys...I have an 86 that had a full transmission rebuild about a year ago. its kind of been a problem since. tranmission's been taken out and put back in 3+ times for one reason or another . this time it appears a needle bearing cage broke it makes shifting into and out of 5th hard. is this a common failure after a rebuild? so not to continue having to have the car down every three months for transmission repairs i'm looking for a good rebuild shop around beaufort sc..would rather pay again then play this game of being with out my car every few months. any recommendations would be very much appreciated...thanks steve

Ship it to J. Walker in Seattle, it will be done right.

Take is to Autometrics in Charleston. No reason to ship it.
And no, a needle bearing failure is not common after a rebuild if it was properly inspected. Anything marginal should have been replaced. |
+1 for Gordon at Autometrics!!!!!!!

My project car came with a 915 rebuilt by RS Motorwerks in Atlanta. No idea how good they are as the 2 PO's never got the car on the street, and I only did a week ago. Everyone who has looked at/driven the car mechanically says it is one of the best shifting 915's they have seen though. Time will tell on my end.
