What's considered 'date-correct'?

I have a question for you resto purists out there. I'm interested in a set of wheels for my 69 912. I found a set that is the correct size. They are dated 6-68. How close do the wheel dates and the build date of the car have to be in order to consider the wheels date-correct? Is any date prior to the build date of the car correct? Thanks.

Steve

It depend what is built date .Normaly 1-3 months before but mostly 1-2 .what rim size for 68 it would be 5 1\2 15 and 69 6 x15 or comfort 5x1\2 14.

Pretty much anything up to six months prior to the car's birthdate but never after.
