1982 911SC (first porsche)

Just recently called it quits on the VW turbo scene. Picked up this 1982 911sc.

Car has been restored (minus the interior).

future upgrades:
-Euro height
-BBS RS 16x8/9
-turbo tie rods
-SSI's?
-re-upholster interior

any feedback or comments are welcome! Spending a lot of time on the forums learning about the SC's & shifting the 915

heres the car;

From Canada!

Nice ride...I've an '83 with the euro/row motor...love it.
The 915 is an acquired taste....I had mine refreshed so it works nicely but I've no idea what they 'felt like' as new. Mine has 253k miles on it (915) with that refresh about 3k ago.....it still takes a certain approach and skill to get the most out of it.....especially at slower speeds.
It shifts quickly above 3600 rpm but takes the pause below. I generally double clutch on aggressive downshifts and then it is very pliable.

Enjoy.

Gonna strip them and paint the centers silver. Planning on picking up some Toyo R888's .

This was my last project, just got tires of always tearing it down.

Was that a drift set up? Nice work on the wheels for the SC. I was going to tell you to ditch the twists.

Welcome. Enjoy!

Welcome to the addiction!!

Get some new headlights and itch the sugar scoops. Lowering is a must and semi easy to do. Just be careful of how wide those wheels are so you don't run into trouble with clearances on the non-930 body.

Got my 82 a year and half ago and love it! I never thought I would have one but the right one showed up in my lap like a good old dog. The can be slippery slops like your vw. You can always improve or upgrade but for me i just like to drive it and only fix what needs to be fixed. Of course maintain it. I would not change the tie rods until they are worn. But I am cheap and have to do all my own work and actually pay for it! LOL! letting it sit is the worst think you can do so get out and drive!

Hopefully you left the stretched tire bull**** behind when you ditched the VW.

You know what you get after dumping $5k into a MKII GTI? A Volkswagen. Kidding, I went from a 1988 16V GTI to my first 911SC. After owing many fun cars over the years, my mantra is to take care of the mechanical, then cosmetics. That way you can have fun in your new car instead of sitting in it in the driveway.

Yeah the stretched tires wont happen again.

lear60man, that's one of the main reasons I sold it. at the end of the day its still a jetta.

Looking forward to just driving the car and enjoting it.

Only 2 issues so far.

-once the car is warm, if I shut the car off and start it up again, it wont like to idle until I bring the revs up for ~20 seconds.

-Wiper doesn't park in its rested position. (probably just a dirty connection on the stalk).

Work in progress, but its a blast

Im with everyone else, stay gold on a red car. And I am far from a purist.

I am an old H2o VW guy too, then went E36 supercharged and was in the process of doing a VR6 turbo syncro Corrado, then found my 930.

Stick to the gold. Congrats on the SC. I've owned a VR6, VRT and R32 but the SC is by far the only car I can see myself owning forever

Wow, didn't know everyone liked the gold that much! Might re-evaluate my decision. Also didn't know that many people came from the VW world! Thanks for the feedback

I think i'll fit right into this thread! Congrats on the car. I agree. Ditch the sugar scoops, keep the gold BBS. I think I've changed my tune on gold lately. Looks period correct. They're great cars.

I think everyone who loves VWs, air or watercooled, has a real appreciation for Porsches. The 2 go hand in hand in my book. I don't think i'll ever give up the VWs....
