Question Getting my tail from grey to black

Hey Gang,

It seams that the rubber on my tail needs a touch of Grecian formula or something. Its a daily driver and she is forced to sleep
out in the elements. About 6 weeks ago after a bath I used
Armor All wipes on the tires and the rubber, now its an awfull looking grey color, what can I do to save my tail???

Regards,
Rich

I think they make this stuff called Black Again. It will make it slick and black, except its not like Grecian Formula, more like Afro Sheen.

I use Black Chrome on my 930 tea tray. Put out by the people who make Turtle Wax, I think. Works fine.

Please, no "Armor All", it has silicones in it, silicone is what makes your tail (and tires, and anything else) gray. Take a look at this site: http://www.carcareonline.com/tires_rubber_vinyl.html . I've been using 3M and Lexol products with good success. However, I've yet to find anything that lasts very long on the exterior vinyl and rubber, I have to re-apply monthly during the summer on my daily driver SC.

Good luck,

Peanut butter also seems to work pretty well getting wax smears off of black textured vinyl trim.

"Black Chrome" - I bought it at a Pep Boys, it works fine, gives a satin black finish, seems to last quite a while (several weeks), and wipes off the paint without impossible-to-eradicate smears like Armor All. I use it on tires, bellows, smile, basically all black rubber / plastic.

I use plain old petroleum jelly. Apply it, let it set for a few minutes then wipe off the excess. It looks greasy for just a little while but then it becomes nice and flat. I use it on vinyl as well as rubber. It seems to last a lot longer than Armor-All type products and doesn't leech the oils out of the material.
