Help,door lock push button issue-1971 911

I've got kind of a strange issue that I'm hoping someone has a solution too. I noticed the other day I couldn't manually lock my passenger door using the inside push button or the external key. After some inspection I noticed the door lock push button was fatter than the driver side(which works fine) and wouldn't go down all the way to lock the door. Turns out the skinny push knob that works is the original and the the fatter one was recently purchased.

I'm being told all the current push knobs are this fatter size which seems strange since it doesn't work without modification. Short of sanding down the plastic, which would look terrible, what are my options?

Anyone else had this problem?

The plastic knob goes through a grommet in the door trim, see what your options are with changing that to match

That makes pretty logical sense. If the reproduction knobs are fatter I guess the reproduction grommets would be fatter too. I assume I would have to drill out a bit larger hole in the trim though? Thanks, I'll look into it.
