1984 911 convertible question
Center lower console in my car shows two knobs and a radial dial. I am able to un-attach the two knobs but I can't figure out how to loosen the radial dial. None of my manuals show me my specific car. There appears to be a metal tab on the top of the radial dial but I haven't figured out how to "attack" it. I am trying to remove the console in order to get to the shift linkage bushings. Any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to move the entire console out of the way with the cables attached. I am unsure which dial you are referring to, I have the central locking, the mirror heater & warning switches and the airco controls in the console. Do you have a photo?

I don't have any of the accessories you mentioned. I found a magnifying glass and took a shot at pressing the metal spring tab downward and the radial dial popped out unbroken! The nylon bushing directly behind the shifter is broken which most likely contributed to me not being able to get the car into fifth or reverse but I am replacing all the bushings since I am in there. I cannot get the shift knob off using the 15mm wrench and hammer so I am attempting to remove the entire shift assembly off all in one pc. The challenge I think I will have is not moving the gear shifter out of my selected third gear so I know how to hook everything back up when I am done.
