DG BG... which sensor is which?

The cables of my 3.2 flywheel sensors are labeled DG and BG. One detects engine speed and the other timing, right? Well, I need to put these things back on the engine the correct way. So which is which? And in what position on that little sensor mount do they go? Which one goes on the top? Which one on the bottom?

Thanks,

Hugh,

DG is the Speed Sensor
Bg is the Reference Sensor

I believe the Speed Sensor goes in the middle and the Reference sensor goes on bottom, but it shouldn't matter as long as you match like wires (DG to DG and BG toBG).

the speed sensor, DG, is mounted above the reference sensor on the flywheel mount and above the BG on the wire plug mount.

Yep, What JW said. I miss read your post. I thought you were talking about the connections in the engine bay. Just goes to show you shouldn't post without being fully cafinated.

18 years on I am in this same re-build boat - bought a 3.2 motor in pieces and in the final assembly stages. It sure looks to me like the speed sensor (the one closest to the small teeth on the flywheel if I'm correct) sites below the reference sensor. It sits farther outward, but in the vertical direction is the bottom one. Just want to make sure I get the BG and DG connectors hooked to the right sensors.

Thanks!
Bill

DG is the lower sensor and the center plug, in spite of my '02 post. dyslexia?

Thanks John, I had to check it three times as I really didn't want to question the expert :-)

I have another question on the injector harness wiring, posted in another old thread on the subject.
