Connecting Rod Bolts, recommendation ?
What connecting Rod bolts do you recommend to use in a stock 3.2 engine ?
New Porsche original, ARP or Raceware ? To install them do I need to measure the stretch or just with the torque figure is enough? |

ARP.
IMO torque to the specified # and then measure the stretch. If the stretch is not in spec adjust the torque. If the torque is much outside the specified range, you have a problem.

Yes. ARP By Patrick Motorsports Porsche & Mid Engine Performance Specialists
Not recommending them as a supplier, but they have the reference to 3,2 on their site. I don't see them on Pelican.

Trackrash,
Thanks. It is not clear if that part number will fit the 3.2 engine. I checked different sites and I am getting confused. The ARP catalog mentions 3.0 and 3.3 but no 3.2. In other sites they say the con rod bolts are the same for most all Porsche engines ?????? I did not find these at the Pelican parts catalog. |

More confirmation. Help: Rod bolt identification see post #5
Do a search in the Engine rebuild forum. Lots of info.

+1 for ARP. I got them from EBS but I just checked their site and don't see them anymore.

You can't go wrong with either ARP or Raceware. ARP is more popular and available. I would go with the best price.
The stock 3.2 bolts are the weak point in the 3.2's bottom end. (I like to call them rev limiters.) No reason to consider them for a rebuild.

3.2s and 3.3s used the same rods. The bolts are the M9 size. 204-6005 is correct.

I would suggest using a good stretch gauge for installation.
This has been discussed in other ARP rod bolt threads, but mine needed a few extra ft-lbs of torque to reach the specified stretch.
