Battery cable gauge
I’m in the process of tidying up around my 84’s battery…
I’d like to change the original battery connector ends to o-ring connectors. What gauge is the massive wiring? If I cut off the ends, will it fray, be unruly and become very difficult to form in order to shove a new o-ring connector on? Silly questions, I apologize. What I need to know more than anything else is the gauge so I can get the right o-ring connector ends. |

Big black wire from battery + to starter is 35mm2 according to factory diagrams. That translates to 1.8 AWG.

A 2AWG connector ring should fit. I don't have a crimping tool that big (few of us do), so when I crimp on large connectors, I also solder the joint to make sure it has good electrical conductivity.

Kroon sells an excellent ground wire kit. I actually replaced my stock one as it was getting a little old and stiff.
Great product with great quality, really settled my mind about that essential connection. D. |

I replaced a section of mine with product from batterycablesusa.com. Great products, reasonable cost, and fast delivery.
