radio/battery

I recently rewired my radio and speaker cables. After the installation and testing the battery went flat (no short-circuit, but radio and interior light on all day).
I recharged the battery with a tickle-charger.

After the battery was charged I tested the radio again and found out that when I was 'pumping up' the volume, the radio went down for one second and then restarted.

I tried to start the engine and ....
the battery was down again.

Can anybody help me?

PS I haven't driven the car after recharging the battery.

Did you wire the radio to a switched power source, such as the Acc. position of your ignition switch? A single interior lamp will drain a battrery overnight if not fully charged ... and a trickle charger won't fully recharge a dead battery! They are intended only to 'maintain' a battery's condition. To fully charge a dead battery takes a charger in the 6-10 Amp range, minimum ... and, running a car battery all the way down reduces its' lifetime, as 'normal' batteries aren't designed for deep-cycle discharge!

sounds like a weak, old battery. charge it good (until the hydrometer reads in the 1250 area), and do a load test to see if holds a charge.
