Porsche auto lock system

Many 3.2 owners have the lock system where the passenger side lock does not work. There are a whole lot of things you can do to fix it by taking the door car off . Mine has not worked for 13 years but last week I fixed it. I noticed when I went to lock the doors I could hear that the passenger side make a noise, like it wanted to work. So I took out the door button and sprayed a ton of wd 40 in the hole . Then I exercised the lock manually about 50 times. Then I sprayed a ton more wd 40 in the hole and exercised the locks again. When I finished both locks lock and unlock perfectly. I cleaned up the oil that went to garage floor and my car will smell like wd40 for a while but locks are fixed after 13 years. Not a fancy fix but there you go.

Not only does mine not work on my 88, but the door won't stay shut either.

After 37 years of mostly non use the locking parts get dried up. But now that system is fixed I find it to be quite handy.

The only drawback of using the wd 40 oil is that the car now smells like oil , gasoline, leather and a bit of wd 40! So now I love it even more. We are having crystal clear Santa Ana weather in north San Diego county so a ride today is in order. Will be 78 degrees today with not a cloud in the sky !!!

My convinced that air cooled 911’s have that oil molecule circulating in every nook and cranny, coupled with aged greases and have a gumming up and tarnishing affect on all moving parts and electrical connections over time.
Last week doing some work I most always use a 3/8 drive ratchet, had to reach for the old 1/2” Craftsman for more oomph. Dang thing wouldn’t lock into reverse. Grease and grime was hampering the ratchet teeth and selector lever. Sprayed down with WD40 and working like new.

I am having an issue with locks as well. Locks go down then immediately pop up when trying to lock the doors for outside driver door.

.. lock doors PERIODICALLY... Center locking works PERIODICALLY! NEW micro switches, its NOT the console button unit (tried a second unit). Everything looks greased, moving smoothly.

When I am in the car and push the console button over and over the door locks move down in increments, when they get low enough to lock they pop up again!

Could it be the EUC if it does work periodically?

If your locks kind of work that means the motors are still good. They are just stuck over time from lack of use. An old seasoned Porsche mechanic once told me that stuff breaks on our cars simply because they are old. How many 37 year old cars like mine are still driving around America?

my issue was the central locking module. with new (used) module, it works perfectly after a lot of trouble shooting hours.
