Wayne you need a ....

You need a link at the top of the forums page that goes directly to the 911 catalog. The only way I can intuitively navigate to stuff is to go back to the main, choose 911 and yada yada yada.

Link from the forum DIRECTLY TO the 911 CATALOG MAN At the top of the forums page. If it's there, make it bigger because I don't see one..

Agreed!
Even better if the link opens in a new window, so we can have the BB reference and the catalog open together.

Now, it would be really cool if Wayne could throw a couple of pop-ups every time the link was hit

Ahha! Isn't that what the pop-up is for?

But yes I agree, I need a link to the parts catalogue.

Better yet, make it part of our profile. I never shop the 993 catalog. Always go to the early 911 catalog.

Totally agree

YES - often I am reading about various modifications/repairs that I also have in my future and want to check the price or whatever and must close the BBS - back track - to go catalog pages.

Why don't you just bookmark the page you want?

Here is a direct link to the 1974-1989 911 catalog.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M_catalog.htm

Right-click this link, then select "add to favorites" in IE, or "bookmark this link" in good browsers.

3rd rule in selling (I think): make it easy for the customer to see the goods

The popups are the most useless thing, as they go to corvette posters and schmeg like that. It would make more sense if they went to something I'd actually buy, like brake pads or tune up parts or something. And sometimes the popups crash Netscape on my 11.11 box @ work, but NS isn't that stable on that OS.

Do the popups actually result in any sales, or are they just creating another 'net annoyance and an excuse to switch to Mozilla?

It's actually down below on every page and looks like this:

< Contact Us - Pelican Parts >

Mouse click on the "Pelican Parts" side. But I agree with a better, more visible link. I also like the idea of the pop-up going to something I'd actually buy - like maintenance items for my SC.

If youi click on the "pelican parts" at the bottom of every page it will take you there. It is a little confusing because it looks like it is part of the "contact us" statement.

Okay, let me put this on my list to do - it's a good suggestion.

The problem is, it requires custom modifications to the board software, which then get wiped out next time there's an upgrade...

Maybe a quick solution for now is just to put the URL as an announcement or sticky message?
