Wet Blanket is No Bueno for Paint

Long story short, the blanket and tarp combo I had protecting my 73 from errant sideways hail was saturated due to a leaking hail-damaged roof on the carport. All painted areas in contact with the blanket have micro-bubbling resembling a heat rash. Granted this is a 30 year-old respray, but I am trying to buy some time until I can do a proper high quality paint job as plan to address rust, interior, etc. in a restoration. Obviously, step one is not leaving a wet blanket on the car, but is there anything that can be done to restore the paint and/or prevent further deterioration? I will try to post some photos and will cross-post in "Paint & Body." I am not looking for a magic bullet, but would like a nicer presentation than it is currently. Thanks.

A couple of years ago I had my car in my carport. It had a cover on and it got damp and below freezing.
Long story short, my hood now looks like it is covered with small pimples. Only my carbon fiber hood. No other panel was damaged. I don't think it can be repaired.

Once the paint begins to release there's no going back. Any contact from there on out is only going to encourage more release/damage.

Thanks for the replies. Considering the paint has "released," I assume that this is a poor substrate for a respray and a bare metal paint job is what I am looking forward to?

Does your paint look like mine? I don't believe mine is released. Post a picture of your paint. I think we have two different issues, but who knows.

That is why car covers and bras should never be left on wet.
