Backdate 964 965 Trailing arm question
 

So, before I get flamed, I searched and did not find much on this issue and more specifically an answer to my question.

So, for all those who are doing 964 to RSR backdate, are you sourcing 965 turbo rear trailing arms which, if my memory is correct are 55mm wider...

And front control arms which are 37mm wider.... or

Are you all just buying wheels with deeper offset?

I'm not backdating a 964, but if you want your backdate to look authentic, I would highly recommend keeping the narrow body suspension and running deeper offset wheels. Otherwise, it looks very off.

The 964 RSR did NOT use the Turbo's wider trailing arms.

Steve is correct, the 964RSR used the same rear arms as were used on n/b 964, though they did install mono-balls
in front they used the same A-arms and inner longitudinal mounts as were used on n/b 964, again mit mono-balls

the front suspension has inner chassis mounts, used on the n/b and outter chassis mounts used on the RSR
the difference is that the outer mounting position moves the longitudinals and thus the A-arms outboard by 30mm

there is another solution between the stock and above RSR, you can use 993 longitudinals instead of 964 in the inner mounts, this pushes the A-arms outboard by 12.5mm.

or for an even wider track use both the 993 longitudinals and the outer mounting holes for a 42.5mm push out on each side.

if you use the outer mounts w/ the vacuum brake booster you will need spacers to mount the booster and you will need to use longer RSR specific sways bars and lastly longer tierods

Agreed, keep all your narrow body suspension and go with deeper offset wheels for a more period correct look. Otherwise, Bill V's suggestions are the way to go to mimic the factory's 964 RSR correct geometry. Lots of options depending on your goals.
