SWB Car with Standard Rear Bumper?

So, I'm now even more confused about the hodge podge that is my car. Every one tells me that it is short wheel base, which I have confirmed by measuring it at 87 inches. Then every tells me that any rear bumper I buy for a SWB 930 fendered car is going to have to be customized by adding two inches into it because no one makes a rear bumper that is made for a wide body SWB car. And that makes sense, cuz there isn't much market for it.

But, low and behold, I get my rear bumper from GTRacing and it fits perfectly. Lines up right with the back of the fender in both width and length. So, how is this so? Wheel base is 87, fenders are fiberglass 930 style add-on from the 80's or 90's, yet i can still run a LWB aftermarket bumper.

Tis Confusion....

Any ideas? Keep in mind the pics below are with no engine in the car. when the rear squats, the rear flare is much closer to the rear of the tire... I have seen pics of 930 flares added to cars were the wheel was not centered in the flare. Mine is centered when the weights are right.

If you look carefully at the LWB style rear bumper you will find that it differs in having a deeper flange where it fits to the rear deck lid slam panel.

This allows you to gain the best part of an inch when you trim the bumper to suit a SWB car.

If you then add in the 'longer' opening in the rear fender on the LWB cars you have a bumper that will fit a SWB car.

We found this out recently when we made a new mould for a 911R Rear Bumper.

We made the mould so we could make this Bumper to suit a SWB Bodyshell with or without 911R Flared Wheel Arches - we have been making 911R steel rear wheel arch flares for a few years-.

We discovered that by re-trimming the bumper it would also fit a LWB car.

It looks to me like the black car (yours) had flares added to the existing quarters and the primered car had the entire quarter(s) replaced with ones from a long wheel base car.
