single post 6000 lb lift
Well I finally did it. I bought a Eagle Mobile Man single post movable lift. I will be writing about how it does and what I do with it. I don't work for Eagle but just loved how versatile this thing is.
Question: Why did I buy it? Answer: I wanted a lift that can do more than just lift a vehicle. I also did not want a permanent post taking up space in my shop. This will roll out of the way and I can lift a car anywhere in the shop. I also put in Heated floors and did not know exactly where I wanted a 2 post lift if I even wanted one. I can also use this lift as a hoist to lift other things. I plan on putting a removable flat platform on it that I can use to unload trucks with or load a truck with when i get that big item. I can use it to move a 911 motor and transmission too. ![]() Many more reasons but I am so stoked now that I now have my 2 dreams coming to lite. 1 is a big shop, currently being build with friends help. And 2 a lift I can use to wrench on. My goal by 50 was to have a shop and a lift. At 48.5 I am well away to the goal ! ![]() Here is is when I picked it up at Eagle in Greensboro NC. Saved $50 for picking it up my self and no shipping. ![]() The long piece in the photo ended up having the arms for the lift in side of it. It must have weight 1200 plus. The very end of my boom pole on the tractor could not pick it up so I had to use a lower part of the boom for more leverage and it barley lifted it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Today I will be getting the fluid for it and putting the arms on and if all goes well i will bleed the system and try it out ![]() ![]() Cheers,

Can't wait to see more updates. If you can put a medium to large car on there for your demo. I have had interest in these lifts but my 911 is the smallest car I own. Been a bit skeptical of the single post AND a movable style rack.

Big part is making sure the arms have even weigh distribution. 6000 lb lift with 4 arms with each arm only handling 1500 lbs. I have a suburban I think the Curb weight is around 5500 lbs. I would have to find the center point of balance for the car to make it lift it. Pickup trucks could be lifted but they are so noise heavy you will want the lift more on the front than back. Cars to lift for me are,
1966 vw bus, not heavy should be good. 1961 vw bus truck, not heavy should be good. 2001 jetta TDI, just need to make sure to get it where the manual suggest 1982 911, no problem, lightest of the bunch. 2002 Jeep LIberty. this will be the heaviest i may put over my head. Just got to get the load correct. 2003 suburban, won't ever get it over my head. Will try and find the balance point with a jack first. Friend of mine used to drive Navy hovercraft and he know about weight distribution really well. With the suburban i just want to get it up in the air enough to do a brake job. Will use Big jacks to back me up. 1968 steyr puch haflinger, very very light might be a problem lifting it by the chassis due to being just a weird 4x4 1973 vw Kubel wagon kit car. same as a old VW bug. easy to lift. Cheers...

Thanks for thread 82!! May I ask what kind of a structure is this in your pictures? I have been pricing Morton buildings but haven't exactly liked the numbers I have seen!
Thanks

mgatepi the building is a Duro 16 ft peak 30 x50! It did not look big while i was working on the panels on the ground but when it went up wow it was tall! When it is up I swear i might be able to park a f-16 in it! Shop around, metal panel building guys all have percentages in a factory and their prices are all over the place. Kind of like vacuum cleaning guys that come to your door.
![]() for reference the scaffold is 14 ft plus wheels. The lift is 8ft 5 inches tall.

Here is info about the lift and a few video's that made me really think about getting it.
I also did get to see it in person and move it around and operate it in the show room. 6,000 lbs Single Post Lift: Automotive Shop Equipment - Eagle Equipment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODPYpF6LSLw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgPGl3ra9BY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BVQv5LDVVU The last one got me as it shows that it can do more than lift a car. My shop is for me and I don't do this as a profession. Just a car guy that wants to enjoy his hobby more with a wonderful wife that understands ![]()

Anxious to hear your thoughts after using the lift several times. Please keep us updated.
While 6000lbs should be adequate for a full-size truck, I'm not sure I'm satisfied with merely adequate. I like overkill if I'm going to stand under it. I like the portability, but may end up with bolting a 2-post to the floor so there is no question of stability with a truck in the air. |

If you have a truck or other heavy car i would not get this one if you regular work on them. I plan on rigging it up for my zero turn mower to be able to drive on it and lift and get the blades off.
Will let everyone know, It could be the coolest ever lift or not. Just in the end I hope it works out good enough for me.

Looks like a powered high lift pallet jack!
I have a 6000 lb lift (snap on mid rise) and I start feeling uncomfortable with anything over 4000 lbs on it. Looking forward to seeing this in action.

Had to report to get the photo to be up right. Seems doing photos from a phone gets sideways some times.
Well it works! Bought some AW-32 hydraulic oil for it and had to buy a 12 mm hex socket to tighten the bolts. Ran it up and down a few times and it was great. Currently it goes up way faster than down. I guess it will be faster down with a car on it. ![]()

Houston we have lift off!
Between 2 birthday party's and a day at the lake with the family I did get my lift fully built and tested! The Kubel kit car is very light, maybe 1800 lbs and picked up nicely. Only problem was getting the arms to reach all the way to the front. I ended up using a piece of wood to across the front to even the load and it did great. This is the first time I have ever used a lift so it took me awhile to get it all aligned up. ![]() Here are the front arm locks I installed. ![]() Here are the nice industrial looking handles that I installed on all 4 lifting arms. ![]() little ramps are nice and beefy. Installing these were a pain as the powder coat on the blue base got in the way. Lucky i had a tap to clean the holes up and all went well after that. ![]() Drove on the lift first but glad it was movable as I had to work the lift in and out to find the sweet spot to lift this narrow car. Hopefully the 911 will go better. ![]() ![]() Lift off! ![]() The wood 2x4 across the front to get a better place to lift on. There might be a better place to lift but I could not find anything on line that would work on short notice. No damage to the pan. ![]() I'm 5 ft 11 inches tall and it is way over my head. Can you tell I'm happy! ![]() UP! ![]() 1 more of it up in the air. Lift easily lifted this light car. With the car a few inches off the ground you can pivot in place and turn the car all the way around. Found the uneven parts of my new floor and it did take a extra hand to move the car. So far I am really happy with it. Is this lift better at lifting that a 2 or 4 post lift. Probably not for for heavy use. Is this lift more versatile than a 2 or 4 post lift. YES! This is the reason I bought it.

Good luck with that lift. I almost bought it's grandfather, the Unic, used for about $1500.00 but I ended up getting a Herkules pneumatic lift. Here's a video of the Unic.

Encountered the first problem yesterday. With 3 small kids I don't get to play as much as I like with cars but I did get a few mins to try the lift on the 911 so I drove up on it and crunch. Lucky I only scrapped off some undercoating. My car would be considered right height or euro height suspension? I believe this would not happen on a stock US spec 911.
![]() As you can see I have 0 clearance. ![]() Side view of the low clearance ![]() Confirmed too low. Kind of a bummer but I think I will get a few 2 x 8 boards and use them as pre-ramps to drive up on and then use the lift. We shall see. On a side note pulling out the lift I pulled too hard and the lift wheel went off the pad and I was stuck. Being 1700 plus pounds I could not lift it but managed to get it up with a small car jack and wood. Did not take photos as it was too embarrassing. ![]()
