One more thing to do while your engine is out.

Have had my engine out lots of times since ownership.Had a nice shifting, very quiet, alum. case posi track 915, until the day I shifted into second (last week) and it all came to an end. Pulled lower inspection plate, and metal parts flowed out like a waterfall. Why did this happen??? Because of a 36 mm nut on the back of the main shaft that would have been so easy to check, and never was. Trans is a total lose, case busted, ring gear in several pieces, gears stripped of teeth, it make me sick to my stomach. So my word of advice, next time its out, pull the rear cover off the trans, and check that nut. After reading Pete Z's tutorial, he says he has found many finger tight. So now the search is on for a decent trans, posted a wtb on the parts forum, no luck. Anybody know of one shoot me a pm, ready to buy.

Contact Peter Z, he may have one for you. I know when I bought his, I turned mine for a core exchange, it was also LSD ( posi-trac as you wrote ). It is the one where you need to mash in the tab to lock it in place. Damn
