Porsche test track in Carson CA
I had to run out to LAX from south Orange County to do some testing on an aircraft today and passed by the test track and actually saw a bunch of workers (around 25 of them) doing some grading and starting work on the track.
So on my return path I shot a few passing photos as I rolled by. Wonder if Wayne with pelican being so close has any dibs on driving on it opening day I actually grew up in Carson and went to school there. My brothers and I use to use jackrabbit hill for our playground for dirt bikes, BB gun wars etc and even climbed the old driving range nets and closest one would grab the cables on the goodyear blimp and fly across the 405 freeway. Yeah we got caught. Several times. Maybe Wayne could advertise Pelican. On the side of the blimp. Flashy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Play me for the fool if you must.... but what are they building? I'm local... kind of, but not in sync with this.

The ole Jack Rabbit Hill off of the 405 Freeway in Carson
Where pro riding Motocross racers used to train back in the 60s/70's. Formally home of the very first Schwinn Sting Ray based BMX bikes ever built by the 212th Street Mafia crew back in about 1966/67. Sorry to see it go!
But I guess if me and a friend don't feel like waiting on the asphalt then the alternative would be: ![]() ![]() ! Last edited by TCracingCA; 01-10-2015 at 05:14 PM.. |

probably a dumb question, but the website isn't exactly clear....
Is this gonna be a test drive, show off our cars for prospective clients only type of facility? Or will there be some open track days on this thing?

Someone else posted this link in another thread. It went under everyone's radar... but the manager of the center looks to be an air cooled porsche guy. check out his article and his backdated RSR

buy your Porsche and have a place for "training"
But then who knows what it will turn into ? Does anyone have a contact with Goodyear so I can get a ride on the Blimp from across the Freeway and get some photos to post here ![]() If you do please PM me , I have always wanted to go for a blimp ride !

Porsche will really make something nice out of this facility, and have the opportunity to gain a ton of prospective clients if they would do an open track day a few times a month, or even a few nightly sessions. With the ever impending threat of Irwindale closing, and there being zero tracks within a reasonable distance, this would be a great coup. If they did something like Adams out in Riverside, like Time attack nights or something of that nature, I'd be all over that! There is no shortage of racers, ricers, wannabe's, in L.A., and there is no lack of money around here either. Crossing my fingers, as I'm not in the tax bracket to be purchasing a new P car.....

I drive by this all the time. EPA (or someone) made them put a huge dirt cap on the entire facility as when they graded it supposedly methane started to escape (it used to be a dump a long time ago, most recently a golf course). It's taking forever but finally looking like it's getting close.
My guess is this is what they will focus on, including allowing new deliveries: https://www.porschedriving.com/experiences/driving-experiences I assume they may offer some more advanced car control, skid pad, type schools too. But given the size of the track, I'd be surprised if they do the full on schools like they do at Barber. But who knows... I doubt we'll see open days here, maybe some PCA club events every now and again. |

I will most certainly checking out this place when it opens. Have a friend in Costa Mesa and will have to go. If any other Pelicans are planning on going, let me know, and we all can go.

Chatted with the PCNA reps several times about this facility. Porsche experience events, dealer training, Porsche car control clinics, and new car introductions are planned there. Open DE and club activities have never been mentioned as a possibility. They haven't said "no" specifically, but continuous lapping performance driving events has never been part of their focus.
