Trouble reinstalling rocker covers
Just put new rocker covers on. Got the top 5 screws in on both sides and both rubber strips back on
Cant remember how the bottom 3 bolts on each side go. Specifically, the plastic washers. There are 6 thin plastic washers and 3 wider plastic washers. Can someone please explain how and where these go? Unfortunately, it took me a year to get this job done since removing old rocker covers and I didnt take photos or make notes...just threw all the parts in a box like an idiot :D Bently manual is of zero help with this Thanks alot |
Those spacers go between the body fast nut screws and the rockers. Without them the rockers will be skewed in too deep and not properly follow the body lines.
Post a pic and we can tell you the order of the fixture components. Do not over torque the fast nut is really thin and will strip easily. Here you go Brother: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ps3hepvoam.jpg |
thanks. I figured the plastic washers go in that area, under the metal trim
what has me confused is that there are only 3 wide washers but there are 6 thin washers Do all three wide washers go on the driver side in addition to 3 thin washers and then on the passenger side, just the other 3 thin washers? I seem to recall all three fat washers coming from just one side. I made a metal note of this but well....my mental notes are not good |
This thread is related...but doesnt correspond to my original parts even though I too have an 83
All my screws for the bottom are the same length...also the thread is indicating 3 small washers/spacers and 6 larger...i have the opposite. I have 6 small and 3 large http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/671331-white-spacers-rocker-panels.html |
How thin are the thin ones? will two equal one thick one?
PO body shop may have put the wrong ones? |
Oh Okay, driver side uses the thicker ones because it does not have oil lines plus a thin washer.
Passenger side, thin washer on top of the oil line bracket. Just checked my car. |
So driver side uses 2 per screw...one thin and one fat? That does make sense as the gap is larger due to no oil lines
Thanks alot |
Yes, screw, thin washer, rocker, thick spacer to fast nut.
Passenger side, screw, thin washer, rocker, oil line bracket to fast nut. |
