Gas flap spring

Any advice on installing the spring assembly. I must be attacking it wrong.

One of the most annoying 'jobs' you can do. Do a search - there is a trick and it goes something like this: Affix a zip tie or twist tie on the loop in the spring and fish the tie wrap through the slot in the pivoting thing (so you can hold the spring in position while you get the catch positioned and get the cotter pin in.

Once all is right - snip the tie wrap off and done. Even with this it took me 30 mins.

Well I never even gave that a thought. I'm sure my spring in my 75 is the original, or maybe not, it pops the lid with some attitude. But good to know there's a fix.

Well I did it, was a little rough but the secret with the zip tie was the only way to fly. Getting the cotter pin in without bending it was a bit of a bear.

Thanks all, small steps to get my car back together .
