1978 911 SC Seat Details

G'day Guys, I've just had a very helpful email from Porsche Great Britain (where my car was originally delivered to) regarding the specs of my car. Note the car has been in Australia since the 80s. Regarding the interior and more specifically the seats, it notes the car had Cork Leatherette but with pinstripe velour, which to me is kind of cool. Needless to say the seats in the car are not original.

I've done a search and the best I can come up with is this image which shows a custom seat with a brown velour pinstripe which seems an appropriate colour given the Cork Leatherette.

So to my questions:
  • Does anyone have an image of a Cork Leatherette seat with a pinstripe velour?
  • Does anyone know exactly what parts of the front seats are trimmed in the velour? Does it include the full headrest or only the lower / central seat back?
  • What was the rear seat treatment? i.e. was there velour there too?
  • What info is there about the different types of velour you could get?

I would eventually like to get the car back to factory so getting this detail is important.

Many thanks for your help.

This is how I imagine the car looked originally, albeit it RHD.

How it looks now after being painted (vandalised) red, then finally black. At least it still has a Cork interior.

Found this with a bit more searching. Is this a factory trim and was this how the seats were treated in terms of where the velour was used? Sales blurb suggests the interior is original.

My car has a similar history to yours. UK delivery and in NZ since 80's.
While not cork, my black seats, which are original, would have been trimmed the same as yours.
Note, no velour on rear seats.

78 sc interior

Greetings. I have a 78 ac with the exact cork interior you are asking about. My uncle bought the car in 80 and parked it. I bought it from my cousin a few years ago with 8,484 miles on it. The interior is original. I can take any photos you like or answer any questions you may have. Just let me know.

Wow! Great offer and thanks for all the replies to the thread. All very helpful. Pretty much some overall interior shots, a shot of the rear seats, and some of the front seats, perhaps something that show the entire front seat and then a close up on the velour would be ideal. I'm sure that will be enough to figure it out.

Next challenge will be identifying the correct velour colour and sourcing it.

What colour is the exterior on your car? Congrats on a special car with that low low mileage.

Sorry for the delay

Glad you asked. Forced me to go to the attic to look at what came with the car. Apparently either my uncle or the previous owner must have smoked and got a burn mark on the seat bottom. As a result, he replaced the seat bottom. The reason that is good is that a few months ago, the vinyl started to rip where it attaches to the inset. Maybe I can take that seat and the old bottom somewhere to get fixed. At any rate, here is the photo from my attic. I will get some photos for you on Friday during the daylight.
