911Sc hard to start when hot

I recently replaced the fuel accumulator on my 911SC. The old one leaked fuel from the vacuum line. The new one also has a few drips of fuel at the vacuum line. Is this normal or do I have a defective in the new accumulator

CaptainD,

I can't seem to visualize your problem by your description. The fuel accumulator is part of the fuel delivery system for your CIS and not related to any vacuum hoses. Where is the leak? A picture would be great. Have you checked your residual, control, and system fuel pressures? Or do you have ignition (spark) when the engine is warmed up? These are some of the critical things you need to test and check to get to the bottom of your problem/s. Keep us posted.

Tony,
The accumulator has a fuel line in and out on the top. at the bottom of the accumulator there is a vacuum line to the manifold of the engine. The old unit had fuel flowing out of the vacuum line, which indicated a leak in the diaphragm. The new unit leaks a few drops out of the vacuum line when disconnected. Is this normal

Leaking from the line at the bottom of the accumulator is normal as you describe it--a few drops when the line is disconnected. The line is a return line to the tank, not the intake manifold, and as the fuel pump runs, that line is filled with fuel on it's way back to the tank therefore, there will be fuel in the line from the circulation of fuel, not from a leak in the diaphragm. The line should terminate in a T connector that connects the return lines from the WUR and the fuel distributor. The only way that line could leak a few drops of fuel when disconnected is if it was part of the fuel circulation, not if it was connected to the manifold.

A little leaked fuel when you switched the part is fine. If it is leaking fuel during normal operation, stop what you're doing and fix the leak now. We don't want another "car on fire" or worse post!

^ This and hot start issues are sometimes related to check valves after the fuel pump. Did you replace the fuel pump also?
