Post Two batteries or one ?

I need to fire a 69. Today. Both batteries are not holding a charge. There are no Optimas available locally.
Can I fire the car with one battery or do I have to buy two batteries?
Thanks!

One battery will do fine. You can even leave the other one hooked up. They are wired in parallel, not series, so they are both 12 volts.

Just remove the one in the drivers side and replace it with the new one to fire it off.

And be sure to strap it down. A battery bouncing around will be destroyed in short order.

Well I installed the battery and fired the car.
I was able to hear and drive the car with my recent made up exhaust system.
The exhaust system consists of stock headers, no sheetmetal on them, a megaphone welded to the section of exhaust where the three pipes go into one. With the big end of the megaphone going into a pair of '71 Pantera mufflers which each one has two exits.
Needless to say it is loud. Much louder than a 2.7 RS muffler. How does the car perform? Well as you know the louder the exhaust, one thinks the car is faster. The car is actually faster with this setup. And seems to have a little more low end. Can't test top end no room in my area. Will have to hit the freeway tonight.

Hello

The driver side battery can be runed single, just remove the wire runing to the otehr battery by opening the clamp and pulling it out.

The 36 Ah battery will not have enough power for winteruse yet most people don´t drive then.

You also can convert the batterysystem to a two independed batterysystem by using a caravan battery managment. Those units get smaller and lighter over the years ( But not much cheaper ) and are the best investment to run two batterys perfect. Very good versions have a temperature probe on each battery to charge them at the optimum level.

But as long the batterys are dirt cheap ( starting at 20$ in germany ) noone will invest into that.

Grüsse
