STUPID QUESTION! I can't remove my headlights!
 

OK I know that I deserve all the derogatory response coming.... But....

After a year since installation, One of my new "H4s" FELL OUT and bounced down the street when I applied brakes at an intersection. The screw must have vibrated out. STUPID!!

Luckily, it just cracked the lens. BUT it's not an H4, it's an H1!!! So I ordered two new lens and the proper two part mounting screws ( I have trim rings).

So the one fell out, but I can't get the other off!! It's like it's glued on! I removed the screw and the trim popped right off. But so far no joy! Trying to loosen from the bottom with my hand and fingers. There's no additional screws, but no luck. I don't want to pry for fear of scratching the fender or damaging the trim.

ANY SUGGESTIONS!?

You said you removed one screw and the trim (ring?) popped off. But that screw screws into the main screw at the bottom of the light assembly that holds it into place. At least that is the way the H4's are attached to the fender.

Mine were a bear to get off too. Had to pry them off when they wouldnt come off easily.

Could it be that the headlights are also stuck on the seal ring? Maybe someone used weatherstrip on both sides of the seal ring. Maybe you could cut the seal ring with a razor blade right behind the inner trim ring.

I just went through this last week. It seems as though they get stuck to the seals and the little hook on the top of the bucket. I really did not want to smack them around but it was the only way to get them off.

Nah! No glue or other material on the one side ( that fell out). Just new seals. So I assume same in the other side.

It had just one screw holding both the trim ring and the headlight assembly (which was missing in the victim light).

I now have the correct inner and outer screws, but just can't get the passenger side headlight off!

Why did you pry with?

Maybe I'll try a rubber mallet a little at a time. Hit from the bottom, right?

Make sure the owner before, if there was one, didn't zip tied it in from the back.

I taped up a screwdriver pry bar and used a shop cloth to further protect the paint. I just did little sections down low, pulling at the same time. It really just seemed to be seized on from time.

I have H4's. I did mine by twisting the housing slowly and up. use a disposable gloves for better grip.

When you reinstall use a couple of zip ties as preventative tethers between the light assembly and wiring connector to keep the light assembly from hitting the pavement. Takes 30 seconds.

I've used a pick tool to hook the headlight (H4) and pull out. Your FLAPS will have plastic pry bars, which are indispensible for newer water pumper Porsches. Sorry to hear about your H1. Ouch!
