Installing Timing Chain Covers

Should you use a gasket adhesive when reinstalling timing chain covers after tensioner upgrade????

Depends if you ever plan on pulling them off again.

If yes, skip the adhesive and fight the fight of getting it to seal with just the gasket.

If no, I used permatex copper spray sealant which worked great.

If one is to use a sealant/adhesive, the consensus appears to be Curil-T sealant. A search (especially on John Walker's posts) will help in your decision.

I used threebond 1104 per the complete engine sealant thread. Not fun to remove and scrape (Had to do one of them after I messed up the assembly procedure), but there is no way they're ever going to leak.

i used the yamabond ( 1104 ) very thin coating on the gasket.

My vote: Clean-clean-clean mating surfaces... then sealant.
