Hood mounted lamp install

I am in the process of planning the install of a pair of hood mounted driving lamps. As a few of you may have done this I thought I would ask for any advice.
1. Dash switch. What was the switch like that was used on an early 911 with the optional fog lamps? There is a hole in the dash next to the lighter where a switch could go. Is it similar to the fog lamp switch on a Carrera? What have you done?
2. Location - it looks like there is a reasonable amount of adjustment to I would guess I could match the mounting on a photograph of my choice.
3. Mount - Looks like the black plate in the picture mounts on the underside and the lamp housing rests directly on the hood. It will require drilling three holes per lamp. I was thinking about putting a coat of clear silicone on the mating services to reduce the possibility to water collecting and aiding the rusting process.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Just read through the archives (see below) and answered my question on the mounting - still wondering about the switch ......

This a picture of the dash of 1971 ST undergoing restoration. I'm not sure which one controls the lamps.

Nick - thanks for the post. It is probably one of the pull switches just above were the ash tray would be. Hopefully someone will know more.

By the way - this link did not work for me.

Great site

The picture of the underhood wiring will be helpful. Your 3.0 looks like it would be a lot of fun to drive - I assume it is done and back on the road. Any pictures of the finish product? Did you do most of the work yourself?

The motor is finished, but the shell is still in the bodyshop, after 13 months! I am hoping to have it back in the next couple of weeks. I'll keep you all posted don't worry.
