Angry List Mistakes In Bentley Sc '78-'83 Manual

We all make mistakes and BENTLEY is no different. It is a great manual but, for the benefit of others, list mistakes you may have found by page number and short details.
Here are some:
Page 102-7. Mixe-up between oil pressure warning switch and oil temp. sender.
Page 280-2. Distributor rotation is wrong.
Please, participate.

On engine assembly - the factory hold-down tools are installed incorrectly! They don't do anything in that orientation. I think that's really, really funny.

But, it's still a good book. I told Robert at Bentley that he should publish a list of typos (like I do with 101 Projects), but he didn't listen to me...

It's interesting to compare Bentley to the Factory manuals and Spec book. It's obvious Bentley was given official permission to use the genuine material in their books, but they still made all kinds of mistakes.

Here's a couple of past threads from the archive. I know Warren H. found several pages worth of errors.

Bentley Error?: CIS 15* temp switch

Bentley Manual, what's the deal?

Surely you must be joking. No way would Porsche ever give official permission. In fact, I spoke with Bentley on this many times. They had to redraw many of the diagrams because Porsche refused to let them use it.

Nope, I think you're mistaken. They gave me the cold shoulder too for 101 Projects and this engine book...

Oh, and there's about 50-60 errors in all of the spec books (soon to be corrected in my engine book).

The first Bentley manual I recieved was missing the entire chapter on the exhaust system. I'm sure everyone is aware of the incorrect spark plug numbers on page 030-8, the 80-83 uses WR5.

If I am mistaken about Factory involvement with the Bentley book, Porsche must be getting ready to sue Bentley. There are some obvious lifts from various official publications.

Errors in the spec books?
That's not good. Think of all the motors that have been assembled using that information.

I was talking with a friend of mine who is a manager at PCNA here in Atlanta. He didnt exactly say it but I got the impression that the Bentley manuals were .....at least reviewed by PCNA if not given there blessing. I think they have some relationship.

An "obvious" mistake is the repeated incorrect labeling of the picture of the crankshaft pulley with the 5 BTDC notch being labeled as TDC ! (The picture number is labeled 0018302.)

I found this same picture in sections 030-12, 102-9, 102-15, 102-26,102-37, and 151-2.

In Wayne's 101 Projects book, his pictures on page 59 and on 72 are correct

On the Bentley Publishing web site , they do list 2 corrections for the SC manual
- Distributor rotation direction for page 280-2:
NOTE - The ignition rotor turns in a counterclockwise direction.

and

- Wheel bearing cover plate tightening torque correction for page 420-20: Wheel bearing cover plate to bearing housing (M8)..........25 Nm (18 ft-lb)
