Adel Clamp Install?
I am installing my oil lines to a front, center mount cooler. How are the adel clamps being attached to the body?
Thanks for any help! |

I may have found a solution.
Rivnuts or sheet metal screws? If the rivnut fails, would it leed to having a loose piece of metal rolling around inside the tub? |

Either way, but Rivnuts are nice. Always better to have a proper thread to attach things. Use aluminum versions. It's highly unlikely the blind section will break off.
Use a not-too-long drill bit to create the Rivnut opening. Depending on what MY, there's usually just a hot air duct inside the rocker area, but maybe an engine oil line. Sherwood |

Thanks for the reply.
I will try to find the rivnuts. Also, I was concerned about water getting in behind the rivet holes. |

Look to YouTube for DIY Rivnut installation tools. Some of the commercial tools are either too expensive and/or inconvenient to use. Some can't be used in confined areas. Here's a couple: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Og-tHIR_0I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfQIYLSKGwI A thin layer of gasket sealer or equivalent during installation should ensure a water-tight install. Thanks again. I will look at those. I was thinking of the hand tool that looks like pliers.

Edit; I just finished the second video...that is what I will do.
I like the tool in the first video...looks like it will be useful in tight spaces. Also, it is cost effective. Not sure how well it will work. However, it looks like it will meet my needs for an oil line install. Thanks again. Last edited by jamesjedi; 07-06-2016 at 12:22 PM.. |
