Anyone purchased DasL Jack Pad?

Bought a pair, was a little bored and went out to make sure they fit ok. Never thinking for a minute they wouldn't...

They didn't. Curious if anyone has used them before or would know why they don't fit. Not rocket science... Remove plastic cover, insert jack pad. As far as I can tell anyway.

Thoughts?

It can be a little tight fit due to grit build up in the opening. Stuff a rag in there to clean out the grit and try again, making sure to align the shaft carefully with the hole.

Deputy,

I bought the one our host sells, which fits my '86 just fine. If it helps, I measured the shaft on mine and it's .86 in. square.

Mine measures 15/16th.

Any idea what size the opening in the car is supposed to be?

Even if I clean the gunk out of the receptacle on the car, this doesn't appear to even be close..

Just so I'm clear, you mean point eight six inches, right?

Jack pad receptacle opening........

Deputy,

My old jack pads were purchased in '90's and close to 25 years old now. The bar measures 7/8" (0.875"). These are slightly smaller than yours which is 15/16" (0.94"). So I located a square bar that measures slightly smaller (hairline) than 15/16". Went to test the 15/16" bar on my '78 SC and '89 cabriolet. The bar slides easily to the receptacles in both cars.

Measure the bar of your jack pad using a caliper. If your measurement is greater than 31/32", you will have some problem. A 15/16" bar should have no problem sliding in the receptacles unless you have a smaller opening.

Tony

Edited/correction: A 15/16" bar will not slide in through the hole. See post 21.

I'll measure my opening for the jack pad and post the results right after Mercedes and Red Bull (and maybe even Torro Roso) beat Ferrari in the morning.

Looks like their powder coated, that's probably the issue.

I bought the one our host sells and initially it didn't fit in the driver's side. As I pushed on the pad I worked it back and forth and suddenly it slipped in. Never had a problem since. Probably just some crud or undercoating in there. Try this and I bet it slides right in. You want these things to be a college fit anyway.

Yep... Manufacturer says his pc guy likely went a little nuts judging by the pics. May try to sand the ends as its much thicker there and see what happens.

I bought two and next day shipping was included. So probably same price and i like the ease of shopping on Amazon prime.

Show a picture how the jackpad does not fit the receptacle opening.
It should fit without any problem.
Here's another pic. Am I measuring this incorrectly? Looks to me like it's closer to 15/16th.

Deputy,

Place the hook end of the tape measure at the edge of the bar and read the measurement. A better measurement would be to use a caliper. Looking at your set up, it looks like you are not correctly doing it. It looks like the bar (end) is wider than 15/16".

Don't have a caliper unfortunately. Still about 15/16th... A hair smaller. Unfortunately I can't really measure the end really well where the pc flairs out.
