Just ordered these. Will be my second set, they're good for 15-20k miles for the rears.

Discount tire rep spent a lot of time looking for me these past few days. First came up with Pirelli P Zero only to find not available for a few months. They were available early December and I held off. Snooze ya loose. The rep talked to the Toyo rep Saturday and came up with several possibilities in 245x45x16 with 205's to match. RA1, R888 and R888R. The last two are DOT certified but much tread. More track than road. A couple other options are Toyo's T1R and R1R. I couldn't find them though on the Toyo website. I'm going with the RA1's first but will go with what ever is available at this point. Good luck.

there are still some RE-11's out there in 245's. tirerack doesn't have them, none of the big vendors do. there are still some left on ebay. i know as i just bought one to replace a cut tire on my 914.
the 245's on 16's appear to be done...

I have about 3 hours of hard canyon driving on my R888R 245/45/16 and they still have all the nipples. Couldn't slide to save my life

I love the thought of the R88Rs but will be traveling 4k miles to Luftgekühlt and back. Do you think it would be suicide driving on those?

I just pulled the trigger on the R888R in 225/45 & 245/45. Praying that the shorter front tire won't require rolling the fenders. I'll report back on how they fair after our roadtrip to Luft5.

I did have to roll my drivers fender because my car doesn't sit even left to right.
They are getting noisy now that I've about worn them out but they weren't a bother on the trip. I drove them 5,200 miles up and over a couple mountain ranges. Encountered some snow (which was terrifying.) Had the cruise set on 115mph across the desert on several occasions. Traversing all kinds of different terrains in one day, I never touched the tire pressure so they were over inflated at times which wore the middles down faster than usual. These tires stuck like glue during one emergency braking situation on the highway and I seriously thought I was going to peel the tires off of the wheels in the tight canyon turns.
