Dumb Question - Spark Plug Gap 82 SC

Hi Guys,

I have a stupid question. I have some new plugs for my '82 SC - the recommended WR5DC. These are gapped to 0.8mm out of the box. The factory spec manual says 0.7mm + 0.1mm. Why is it written like this? Why don't they just say 0.8mm? Is the 0.1mm a range of allowable tuning adjustment or something?

Thanks.

G.

Should say +/-

As an engineer, tolerancing in this manner generally means "I really want the gap to be .7 mm, but nothing is perfect so err on the side of a slightly larger gap and anything up to .8 mm is OK. I'd really rather you don't go below .7 mm.".:)
