Stock rubber center 930 clutch disc, how much torque?
Hi
I am really not liking the transmission noise and rattle I am getting with my KEP stage 1 spring centered clutch disc. The driveline was lovely and quiet with the stock rubber center disc. Could I buy a new 930 rubber center disc and use it with the KEP st1 pressure plate? Its a deep pressure plate so I think it would fit, but my car does make some good torque and I was unsure if the rubber OEM disc would 1) be able to handle the torque 2) last a 'reasonable' amount of time. Don't mind if the service life is drastically reduced, just unsure of the torque will fail the disc and leave me stranded! cheers

Rubber-centered clutch discs are well known failure points and for that reason, never recommended.
We strive to enhance a customer's car by improving durability & reliability, thus using one of these rubber-centered ones is counterproductive to that effect. Keep the revs about 1800 and the transmission should be quiet unless you have other issues or use hard rubber (or solid) transmission mounts.

Thank you Steve, interesting comment on the transmission mount. I have changed them to the the split poly graphite inserts and it really focused my attention on transmission noise so maybe I should change back to stock!

I would use the cabriolet mounts since they are stiffer and considered a sport mount.

Can you get them as inserts to the stock 930 transmission crossmember? I had the use a press to remove the old ones. They popped right out though so I shall put them back in and see if they are the cause of my increased trans noise.

Sorry b930,
I thought the carrier (transmission mounting bar) for the 930 and 911 with a 915 were the same. I see now that they are different. Getting factory new ones only with the bar but check out Rennline's HD engine/ transmission mounts, HD Engine or Transmission Mount Set-Rennline, Inc.. Pelican should have these. If you buy the cab engine mounts, you can rig up large socket or circular plate to press the rubber mounts out of their metal cage. It can be done on a bench vise. Then, lube up rubber mounts with silicone and press them into the transmission carrier. I did this on my 930 and they work great. I have KEP Stage 1 clutch with OEM spring hub disk and I do not notice any rattling noise.

You were right, put to stock mounts back in and all is good, no more excessive rattle. I guess I will not use the stiff mounts and sell them instead. They are the split black type which are NLA according to our host.
