Why are these yellow zinc plated parts silver ?

Are these parts not available any more in yellow zinc ?

First I ordered a set of door pins, and now 2 torsion bar covers. They both show in the on-line catalog yellow zinc plated, see below.





This is what showed up.



I could have just send the old parts for plating, now I pay for new parts and still have to get them plated correct.

I'm wondering what's next.

The 901-333-153-00-M260 are shown as Yellow Zinc Plating.

The one you got (Porsche) -000 are shown as what they would like if Clear White Zinc Plating was use.

I haven't been around here for but a few years but I truly don't understand the obsession Porsche owners seem to have with plating finishes.

Once upon a time I worked in the auto parts manufacturing business and in my opinion it's nothing short of a minor miracle that a lot of these parts are available at all. So complaining that plating is the wrong color or incorrect type just seems trivial to me. If you must have the exact same finish as the original part then have them re-plated, just be happy you can still buy parts for your 30-40 year old car.

All of these plating finishes are "sacrificial", meaning their only purpose was to provide a layer of protection for the base metal and by their nature they all had a limited lifetime...they were supposed to disintegrate. That's it. They were not chosen for their decorative qualities.

The door hinge pins are supposed to be silver. The torsion bar covers are painted black any way.
