Although I'm glad it's running again I find it interesting that the car would not start until I "primed" it. (at least that appears to be what happened).

The car had been running fine for two months or more after I replaced the fuel pump.

The car had only sat a week without being driven (that's typical) when the no start condition occurred. Any ideas on why this event happened? Anyone else experience this? Would a fuel leak or something similar cause this?

A fuel pressure gauge kit is a mandatory tool for fuel injection system troubleshooting. Without one, there are many critical data left unknown to make a good and meaningful diagnosis. Right now you are doing a lot of guess-work troubleshooting. Sometimes you get lucky but you can not rely on luck all the time. Without knowing your control (cold and warm), system, and residual fuel pressures are within spec, you are hoping everything is good and OK. Unfortunately, it does not look that way now (?).
