Cars Inc - Targa Dan
I've just had my 911 targa roof rebuilt by Dan, this post is just to say thanks to him for a great job and add my recommendation to the many others that have done so over the years
![]() ![]() My situation is a little different to you US based people, I live in Melbourne, Australia so it was (in my mind) a bit of a risk to have the roof rebuilt by someone 23 hours away by plane! I needn't have worried. Having taken advantage of a vacation to the US I packed the roof into my bags, diverted via Philadelphia, drove up to NJ and dropped the roof off at Dans house. Had a great chat with him for an hour, during which time he confirmed my roof had taken a flight off the car at some point, but that he could fix it up good as new. He also made me green with envy at his car collection and the spares he had !! I could've bought his orange targa or 73 RS replica in a heartbeat ![]() I left him with the roof and continued with the holiday, a few emails back and forth from Dan while on holiday and I also relieved him of a couple of front seals and an original tyre compressor from his spares collection to replace the missing one from my car. After what I consider to be an exceptionally low cost to post back to Australia what is a very bulky object (Pelican could learn a lot from that), my roof arrived back just over 3 weeks ago and went straight onto the car, no messing, leaks or whistles. It's a super tight fit and doesn't leak (as proven by driving through a monsoon last week here in Melbourne) and once we get round to fitting all the new seals will be even better. It's so good, the independent I'd left the car in storage with is thinking of sending a roof he needs rebuilding on another customer's car over to Dan to be done, rather than take it the 10 miles up the road to the trimmer he's used before. If you need a targa roof rebuilding, there's only one man, send it to Dan ![]() ![]() |

Wow - compared to you Mike, I practically live next door to Dan. Congrats and thanks for posting - sounds like your holiday was a success in more ways than one. I've been thinking of calling him - I think I better get on it.

Certainly was a success, one of my cases had a number of new parts in it as well, couldn't pass up the opportunity of cheaper prices you guys get

Dan, also did my roof, perfect in one word. For those of you "on the fence" Dan will not (like the rest of us) be around forever, and when he's gone, so is that talent unfortunately

Sorry, it was delivered to my independent and he didn't take one, but he did say it was very well done, after a week in transit it was undamaged which is more than can be said for it after 15hours in a Qantas hold on the way to the US...
jrsully, you're not wrong. That was one of the few thoughts in my mind when I met him. Super nice guy though. |
