WEVO shifter install on early 915 base DIY

I recently installed a WEVO shifter and came up on some issues I couldn't find on the forums so I wanted to pass along the information.

I installed this shifter on the early year(72-75) shift base 911.424.019.05. The WEVO instructions didn't fully explain how to shim the end float gap so I gave them a call.

Per their tech support the float gap needs to be shimmed using several washers. The aft gap needs to have a 1.2-1.5mm shim between the pivot box and housing and the front gap should be shimmed until the pivot box and gear lever are no longer free to pivot from side to side.

Here are all the steps
I removed the shifter from the car and removed the top 2 bolts from the housing. Be careful the top plate is spring loaded.

I then removed the roll pins using a small deep socket that fit.

I cleaned the base and took it to DFW powdercoating to have it powder coated flat black.

I took several similar washers of the same size and using 220 grit sandpaper and a caliper I sanded the aft shim to get the correct thickness

Using a clamp I pressed the aft roll pin in using the 1.2mm shim into the pivot box.

After the aft roll pin was installed I used several feeler gauges to determine the front float gap thickness needed then sanded two washers to the determined thickness. I used the two washers and the clamp again to press the front roll pin. (I highly recommend the clamp as it made it easy to align the washers)

Last step installed the top plate and installed in the car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1468340353.jpg

Hope this helps someone out.
