Replace Tiptronic with manual Trans? A friend of mine is looking at a '97 993. It has a Tiptronic trans and he'd rather have a manual trans. Is swapping one for the other something that can be done at reasonable cost? Seems like just changing the trans and pedals, but I might be over-simplyfing. Can anyone share their experience with this? |

Step 1 find a 993 manual trans. Oh wait. That's nearly impossible because Singer buys them all to convert 964s to 6 Spd. Kind of tongue in cheek but it will be very expensive and gathering parts will be a chalkenge. |

It will be cheapest and easiest to sell the tip and buy a manual trans. Matt is only half joking. Every serious kit car and sand rail in the world calls for a G50 six speed. When I was rebuilding my transmission on my 993, I was very surprised what a core transmission costs, leave alone a rebuilt unit. Good Luck! G |

As G50 gearboxes have become harder to find many kit car companies have started speccing 996 and 987 gearboxes in their cars. |
