Recaro Pole Position ABE in America?

Are the ABE Pole Positions available 'round these parts, if so, where did you get them?

I'm in the market for seats to use in my Cabriolet with DAS Sport bolt in bar. I have SRD seats in the wings, but want light weight Poles.

Thank you.

They're not for sale in North America, but I found a vendor in Germany who shipped for a very reasonable price. PM me if you'd like his contact details.

Pole Positions are available in the US, it's specifically the "ABE" version which is not. They are slightly wider in the butt region and importantly have a larger opening for the seat-belt buckle, so they are TUV approved for road use. If you're planning to run 3-point belts, this is an advantage, because you can actually feed the buckle through the hole, which is safer than looping the buckle over the hole instead of through it.

Researching Recaro's German site(I don't speak German), it looks like you have to buy the all leather version in order to get the larger belt holes, if their photos are telling the truth. The ABE is also available in a carbon/Kevlar version, about 10 pounds!

The ABE is available in Black Ambla Leather(Vinyl)/Dinamica Suede(Faux Suede), all Leather or all Velour.

Dinamica insert selection of Black, Red or Blue. (Silver?)

Seat base is wider, as mentioned, for more road comfort/manuverability.

I wonder why they would not offer the larger version in the states? You always here how americans are so fat. Maybe not enough market to justify. I have always heard the regular PP is not a great choice for larger and taller folks. man they are great looking and the seat belt opening for a 3 point is nice. I bet they are NOT cheap.

The butt and back inserts have a greyscale pattern to them that is almost a camouflage.

I highly recommend the S08 program they offer. Only adds a little bit to the price and you can get the seat finished exactly how you want.

According to a British Recaro dealer, the non-carbon/kevlar ABE in Vinyl w/suede is about $1,050 and the leather version $1,625. Pretty in line with U.S. Pole Position N.G. prices, actually cheaper for the Vinyl w/suede.

RECARO Pole Position (ABE).

My ABEs were actually a lot cheaper from Germany than buying non-ABEs in the US. Tax is ~20% in Germany and you don't need to pay that if you're outside the EU. Also factor in the (currently) favorable exchange rate for EUR->USD. Bear in mind you may pay customs duty when parts arrive in the US.

Great to know, thanks for the info. Do you have a link to where you purchased them in Germany?

Im a Recaro reseller, price is 645€ for the PP ABE in standard fabric, the Vinyl/suede version is 745€,those prices are with 19% german tax which like written above doesnt need to be payed if shipped to US. Shipping could ruin the deal,as the boxes are big......and to ship them around the globe they need to be packed secure.
