Replaced my under hood options sticker...

My Cabriolet had a repaint about 12 years ago (4 before I got it). Interestingly, the aluminized door VIN sticker shows no signs of masking so I suspect that it was not a complete repaint. But, the under hood sticker that shows the car's VIN, type, engine and transmission types, color codes and options list was missing. A gent here on Pelican from Spain, Joaquin Fernandez, reproduces these labels and the matching label that attached to the Owner's manual. I contacted Joaquin and ordered my label. He provided 4 copies of the underwood label and 4 copies of the manual label. I got them in record time and they turned out quite nice, thanks Joaquin!

Porsche applied these stickers by hand and judging from the cars and photos I've seen, weren't too careful on placement. The position was always near the hood latch but varied quite a bit from left to right. I found a photo of an SC with it's original sticker that had it positioned slightly off center to the right, so that's where I placed mine. Are are some photos of the sticker and its placement. If anyone has a US Cabriolet with its original sticker, please post a photo large enough to show its placement. I have 3 more stickers so if I got this one wrong, it's easily fixed!

I think I read somewhere that they started applying these under hood labels in '84. Cool that someone is making them!

Porsche certainly used them on 83 911 SC US Cabriolets and there are multiple reports of 83 coupes and targas with them and the matching warranty book label: 83SC Standard Equipment/Options - Rennlist Discussion Forums

I don't know how early they started using these.
