Need Light Socket for Vent Controls
I am looking for a new light bulb holder for the ventilation control panel. There are two of them wired in series, and during the years that my car was apart during rebuild, of course I lost one. I can't seem to find a part number in the PET diagrams.
The lights are smaller than the ones in most of the instruments. It measures 12.55mm long x 7.63mm in diameter. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1469078356.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1469078369.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1469078381.jpg Thanks |

I will, thanks!

Help still needed. Anyone know where I can get these lights?

Search this part number in the Pelicanparts catalog : 644-741-902-00-STO
This should be it. For pictures : google part # 99963200910 Kurt |
Thanks Kurt, but unfortunately that's not it. The one I need is smaller than that. There are only two in the car - both in the HVAC control. The one you suggested fits in the back of the instruments.
Nice try though |
ID the bulb and search from there.
if it is a Ba7s, search for that socket type. |
On the later cars, the bulb sockets were part of the wiring harness for the ventilation controls and ashtray light. You might have a look at the earlier harness and see if that is the case for earlier cars. I'm assuming you're looking for a part for a '73. The equivalent part number for the harness in the cars that followed that is 911.612.172.00.

Get a hold of Jim at EASY or Spencer at PartsHeaven = they should've some 'previously tested" ones that your old 911 won't reject.

I hadn't thought of searching by bulb, good idea. It takes a 2721 bulb, and I've found a VW light that looks kinda close, but...
I'll give parts-heaven a call. Usually on these small parts though, I think it's not worth their time to go look for them. On my car the light for the fan comes off the fan control harness, but these lights illuminate the words at the lower left and lower right corners of the panel. They come from the came circuit as the ash tray light. They are single pole, with a ground tab on the side that must make contact inside the socket of the vent control. If I can find one the right diameter, maybe I can rewire it to work. |
that probably is special, at least, most of the sockets on he interwebz are 2 pole twist locks.
I now see what you mean from your descrip and pic. perhaps the other suggestions are a better route if PH can't assist. |
Pelican has very similar looking ones in their Volvo catalog... :)

I’m looking for one of these bulb holders too. Did you ever figure out where to get it from?
|
I did end up finding one. If I recall correctly it was one of the recyclers like Parts Heaven.

I found the solution. There's a BMW bulb socket that fits in the vent controls socket and is made for the correct bulb. BMW part number: 64111366170. I bought 3, did a little soldering and shrink wrapping and now all my vent control panel icons are illuminated. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1705598059.jpg

Thanks for the follow up. I need to find out why my vent controls are dark too. This might be just what I need to do.
