Are all Ducktails the same?

After I get through a couple of the must-haves on my car (clutch, tie rods, ball joints), I think I am going to get back on the nice-to-haves, such as a ducktail. I hear a lot of people say Getty,TRE offers some nice stuff as well as the custom ones Gary Stratton puts together. But I am wondering if there are particular ones that not only have good fit/finish, but are shaped correctly. Or the inverse, which ones 'just don't look right". When I look at ducktail pics on this board, some of them just look different than others. Cant quite put mi finger on it.

What are some opinions out there?

Some duck tail's seems to have a to upright angle.

Exactly - some seem to stand too upright and some seem to have a more rounded shape to them then others. What is considered the gold standard (in aftermarket of course)?

some of that difference is also perception, the angle of the car to the angle of the lens the "copy" of the factory tail I am sure would be considered the front runner .........

Just for opinions though does any one in the know have strong opinion on ...

the "Getty"
MA Shaw's model
Sanjay's
?????????? opinions or photos with model/maker would help the debate ......

Thanks

It's a glasfibre ducktail moulded to the steel engine lid. The lid has huge cutouts so it is no heavier than a standard lid. I have no idea of what brand, sorry, but the getty ducktail looks the same buissness.

The biggest difference between duck on steel lid and all glasfibre is the appearence of stiffness and holding lid straight on the body. The sound when I close it ...

The ones from Sonjay are fantastic if money is no option...the cheapest decent one I found (the one I use) is from Rennspeed....The one from Getty fits a little better (smaller gaps) but I dont think the profile is quite right, but I could be wrong....I know a lot of people us it. I cannot speak of the one from TRE. The one from Performance Products has the wrong profile...and the one from GT racing takes the most work of any to make fit...I would not suggest using that one. Feel free to come over for a close up inspection any time you wish....you know where the car is....you just cant look at the mess during the rebuild.

After comparing the new 2010 911 Sport Classic duck tail to the RS originals, its just not the same.

I would much rather have the Ruf version on the new Porsche.

The Classic just looks like it has a tail that is still developing ands needs a training bra of some sort.

My 02 cents.

Len

NOT A GOOD FIT! I like to call this one, how many washers does it take to make a duck tail fit?

That looks like what was done on the old DP Motorsports wing that was on my car when I bought it. I swore there was 1.5 lbs of washers back there!
