How to disconnect speedometer wires
Hey guys,
I have been looking online on how to disconnect the wires from the back of the speedometer on my 81 911sc but haven't found anything.. There are wires in flat clips that just pull off but there are also 3 wires that are in what looks to be a spring loaded red plastic cylinder. Tried pulling on them but there is resistance and don't want to break anything. Does anyone have any idea on how to disconnect them. thanks |
Don't pull the wire for the red cylinders. Those are your gauge lights. You want to pry up on the metal cylinder that is inserted into the gauge. Use a small flat blade screwdriver or a razor blade to get under the edge & lift the metal cylinder out of the gauge

Those should be for the bulbs. Take a pair of pliers and gently pull the sockets out at the base. They should twist a bit and come straight out.

@Joe Bob and @KTL. That was it. I used a thin flat screw driver and was able to get the metal cylinders out. Thanks guys
