Hi. I have a 79 Porsche 911 SC with a rough idle and very strong exhaust 3.0 l engine. A i recent change the plugs and fuel pump. any ideal what the problem could be are what to check for. thank you very much for your time.

Could be spark plugs boots are not fully seated

You did feel a click when you put them on, right?

Recheck that the wires are in the correct order too

When you say "strong" do you mean smell of sweet-ish unburnt fuel or?

If I may, I would remove the spark plugs to see how they look, they should be grey to tan color and not wet.

For that matter, which plugs did you put in?

One more thing, after service, did you try to bring her up to operating temps by taking her for a 1 hour round trip por just sitting an idling?

check firing order first.
