CIS Air Injection Tube 91111304301

As I'm getting familiarized with my newly acquired 75 Carrera Targa, I was wondering if anyone has any idea what these Air Injection Tubes are for ? I have seen some pics of similar engines without them, any comments about it will be welcomed...Thanks in advance.

It would blow air into the exhaust port.
There was a pump on the left chain cover driven by belt from the fan center

It's for emissions. The air super heats the exhaust, burning whats left of the burned fuel mixture.

There was also a set of something called thermal reactors on the cars with the air pumps.

Was this air line set already removed from your car? Seems that these were removed from most cars as the extra heat lead to all sorts of heat related issues.

Plug the threaded holes in the manifold and loose that stuff. If it has thermal reactors git rid of them too.

Not just the thermal reactor cars. USA 1978 and 1979 SCs also had air pumps with catalytic converters (but no O2 sensors). And all Euro SCs had air pumps. Not sure what the deal was for the mid-year cars.

Unscrew the injectors from the heads and plug the holes with M10x1 plugs.
Air injection
