A/C disconnect

The A/C system is probably the only one that I have never really fooled around with on cars. I'm about to remove one installed on my 73T following the advice of this forum. Its not working, and I'm not sure what to expect.

Is there a logical sequence for removing hoses and components ? what safety precautions do I need to take ?

TIA

I just removed mine – release compressor connection slowly, mine hissed lightly for about 10 seconds.

Fittings were tough to disconnect without damaging condenser pipes, be patient, have a good set of wrenches and lots of WD-40 (assuming you want to keep your parts like I did).

At first I had a hell of a time figuring out why the blower wouldn’t come out of the smuggler’s box. There is a plastic tube that fits into a hole in the bottom; it must be removed from behind the passenger footboard before the blower can be lifted out.

Other than that, it was pretty straightforward; I could feel the difference after the extra weight was removed.

I am still looking for the best way to plug the holes that are left. Does anyone make grommets that fit? Any suggestions – I would like to not permanently seal holes in case I ever want to re-install A/C (maybe in my old age??).
