Viper down!!!

"Street Racing Post" Stop if this is offensive!!
As some of you know I had the big Viper/Porsche
show down Sat. night.
Mr. Viper shows up with several Viper buddies about
11:00pm. Also in attendance is a young guy with a
serious looking Vette.
As always, all my Turbo buddies are there.
We take a short drive to the scene of the crime, and
aggree on the start.
Mr. Viper wants a rolling start, "Great" better for me!
The finish line is marked, and we're off!!!
1st gear very even, 2nd I'm 1/2 car ahead, 3rd about
even again, 4th and over the finish about 1 car ahead.
Mr. Viper was very nice guy, ask for a future re-match
and handed me $500.00.
As we start back to have a beer the young guy wants to
take a shot at the title. Not wanting to push my luck I said
not tonight. Mr. Viper said he would, so here we go again.
From a 15mph roll the Vette jumps to a 2 car lead and it only
got worse. At the finish the Vette won by 3 cars.
The Vette is reported to have over 900hp, and he owns
a speed shop.
The Viper is said to have 650hp.
I will need to go to my sticky track tires for Mr. Vette, but
I think I'll leave him alone for now.

Juan,
The tuners bumped the boost to 1.3 bar, they also
have it running a little rich for the high end group B
cams. The Viper did have a lot a wheel spin, buy it
did hook up . The only time I had a traction problem
was hitting 2nd gear, it jumped a little sideways.
By the way the Vette was running 'NOS"!!

I guess everything really is bigger in Texas. Hearing about that Corvette reminds me of that video I saw of some kids in a hopped up Eclipse trying to mess w/ this guy in a Vette...turned out the guys car had turbos and totally waxed the rice-mobile
Just be careful of the fuzz down there...take those cars to a track where they can really hook up!!!

Hmmm, 900 hp, huh. That's something considering the lingenfelter twin turbo 427 ci C5 that can run low 9's is only running about 725hp. Sounds like someone is fibbing, but I could be wrong.

Pretty amazing video of the lingenfelter vette, btw,

Last week the LPE team produced and tested a (Street Legal) 2002 Lingenfelter Corvette 427 Twin Turbo that went 8.95 seconds and 153 MPH in the quarter mile. The Lingenfelter tradition goes on. John would have it no other way.

Masraum,
I never question these guys on hp claims, it's more likely
600hp with a 300 shot nitrous.
One thing I can say, it's fast!
I bet he's in the high 10's.

That Vette in the video (waxing asses) isn't a Lingenfelter Twin-turbo. It's running DRM (Doug Rippie Motorsport) heads with wild cams and NOS.

But in the immortal words of a freshly spanked ricer:
"..man, that thing runs like a raped ape!"

Congrats Amac,
You should tell the vette guy to come down to Houston and find the Vipers. The tuner I'm working with has a rt/10 making 1100 hp. I believe there are two faster ones around as well (the Henessey turbo and a TNT). These would make for an interesting match.

Also what kind of engine management are you using? I'm just barely beginning my twin turbo project and was looking at all possibilities. So far it looks like the Haltech E6K will be my best bet since Motec is quite pricey. Any experience would be very helpful.

Thanks for the clarification Adam...I was just guessing Glad to know what it really is...all I know is that is sounds bad @$$!! There is a guy near where I live w/ a very wild Z06 w/ rims, pipes and gosh knows what else. Only have the privilage to hear it at low speed and I got goosebumps...not quite like hearing a GT2 tear off into the distance but still

Nathan, I am a subscriber to Car & Driver and I am always keen to see the latest from Lingenfelter's shop. I was also disappointed to see that it wasn't one of his cars.

But still...

poorbOyw,
I'm running Motec, Haltech is much less but limited.
If your going to make big hp go Motec.
How much hp are you tring to get?
Just about anything you do at this level wil be costly.
If I was building a TT motor I would go Motec with
TWM throttles and a custom intercooler. (bling!!!)
